What We're Learning:

Phonics: Consonant Patterns

kn-, wr-, gn-, -mb, scr-, str-, & spr-

Reading: Historical Connections & Steps in a Process

We have been learning about how to record steps in a process on a flow chart, and how to relate a series of events to a flow chart. We will also be learning about how the actions of historical figures led to other actions, and connections between events and the people involved in them.

Grammar: Synonyms and Antonyms

We will expand our vocabularies by learning about synonyms (words that mean the same or nearly the same thing) and antonyms (words that have an opposite meaning).

Writing: Informational Lab Reports

We are continuing our informational unit called Lab Reports. Students will learn how to write like scientists! They will write about exploring a problem, making a hypothesis, and drawing conclusions from their data/experiments.

Science: Seasons and the Moon Social

How do seasons occur? Why are the seasons different? We will explore the 'reason for the seasons' and then learn about phases of the moon and how they occur as well!

*Studies at the end of the month will be Human Rights

Math: Assessing Unit 4, then starting Unit 5

After our test this week, students will start Unit 5: Geometry and Fractions!

The unit begins with a study of polygons and their number of sides, vertices, and angles. We will learn about quadrilaterals, and the 3D shape, cube.

Later in the unit students will learn about parts of a whole, equal parts, and other info about fractions.

Health: Wildcat Word = Etiquette

We are learning about good manners, and how to show your proper school etiquette.

As always, please reach out to me if you have any questions.

Thank you for all you do!

Mrs. Crisp
