Wow, I cannot believe we are already in our last month of school! Check out this week's happenings, and important info:
Important Dates:
May 16: Grammar Test (a study guide/journals will go home Wednesday the 10th!)
May 16: Science Force 1:00-2:00
May 18: Field Day
May 19 (8:45-9:30): Presentations!!! Please come see your child and their friends present their projects. As we continue creating and rehearsing our projects, your child's attendance is vital. Please, if possible, make any appointments after school so your child can be prepared for presentations.
May 19: Spelling Quiz
What are We Learning?:
Reading: Poetry Elements (rhyme, alliteration, stanzas, repeated lines, mood, etc.)
Poetry can be so much fun! There are lots of goofy, silly poems, as well as emotional poems. Please read poetry with your child and talk about what you read and how it makes you feel.
Writing: Book Recommendations
To help Farmer Black, students are recommending a book for her customers to further educate themselves. At home, they can try to recommend something they are reading during their nightly 20 minutes to you! They should support their recommendation with reasons.
Phonics: R-Controlled Vowels (er, ear, eer)
Grammar: Overview of Skills
We will review old skills, and continue practicing the proper use of capital letters and punctuation. Capitals and punctuation have proven themselves to be very difficult to apply this year, so any practice at home with this would be beneficial.
IXL: V.1, V.2, JJ.1, W.1, and W.2.
Math: Even and Odd, and Equal Groups
At home, students should practice sorting objects into equal groups, and discussing how they know whether a number is even or odd.
IXL: A.9, A.10, A.11, A.12, A.13, and Y.11
Science: Continuing our projects for Farmer Black, and preparing our presentations.
** As we near the end of the year, please contact me if your child will NOT be present until the last day of school. I need to know if they will be leaving early.**
Please contact me with any questions or concerns!
Thank you for all you do!
Mrs. Crisp
