Hey everyone!
Time to dive into March! Here is everything you need to know for the upcoming weeks:
Important Dates:
-3/7: Science Test
-3/8: Grammar Test
-3/10: No School
-3/13: No School
-3/16 & 3/17: Think First Stay Safe with Ms. Aimone.
-- A homework sheet will go home on Wed. or Thurs., details have not been decided, but I will send a Dojo reminder when the time comes.
What Are We Learning?
Reading: We will be using our comprehension skills to read and learn about our upcoming Social Studies Unit about the Cherokee people, Trail of Tears, and Sequoyah. We will work on the RACE strategy of answering questions, and students will be expected to do this from now on in order to earn complete credit for open ended questions. It would be great to practice this at home!
For example:
Phonics: Prefixes and Suffixes
Writing: We're continuing our informational writing unit, and students will be adding more books to their writing collection. We will embrace creating multiple pieces, and not always publishing a piece before moving to the next. We're putting an emphasis in "beefing up" our number of pieces, so in the future we can go back and add more/publish to a book of choice.
Math: Word problems & Subtraction Strategies
Please refer to the Unit 4 parent letter that was sent home at the beginning of the unit for detailed expectations of what students should be able to do/the types of problems to solve.
Also, continue working on counting money OVER a dollar!
Grammar: Reviewing capitals and punctuation, commas in a letter, and dictionary skills.
Our test will be on 3/8.
Science: Testing on 3/7
Social Studies: Although our big projects in January/February were about the Creek and other Native Georgians, we couldn't possibly cover all of the Native Georgians culture and important details! So, we'll be specifically studying the Cherokee people, Trail of Tears, and Sequoyah.
Thank you for all that you do!
Fondly,
Mrs. Crisp
