I hope everyone has had an enjoyable, relaxing break!

I can't wait to see everyone!

Coming back, here's what you need to know:

TRANSPORTATION- Please dojo message me you child's daily transportation method home, even if there are no changes. I want to do a full update on this, to be sure all is perfect.

You will receive a letter asked for your child's emergency transportation as well, please be sure to sign and return that ASAP.

SUPPLIES- We have taken inventory of our supplies and realized that we won't make it to the end of the year with some items. If you could donate any of the following it would be appreciated! - glue sticks - pink erasers - scissors (some have gotten lost along the way) - colored pencils I'd like to start a new daily activity when we return as well, called "Picture of the Day". This requires every student to have a spiral notebook. Please send one of those in! I have about 5, but not enough for everyone. So please, send one in if you can!

SCIENCE- We will continue our study of matter and it's 3 states: solid, liquid, & gas. Anytime you can find examples and discuss this will help strengthen your child's understanding.

READING- Our skill for the next 2 weeks is about comparing and contrasting books on the same topic. You can practice this by reading articles or magazines that align with a book you & your child are reading. I find this easiest to do with texts on animals, people, or places. I will also be retesting every child's reading level this month, and the hope is that we've all grown a level or 2! (this goes with the small chart I discussed with everyone at parent-teacher conferences)

ELA- Our skill is "irregular verbs" which are verbs that don't follow the usual 'ed' pattern

---examples: sit - sat, eat - ate, run - ran

WRITING- Continuing practicing our Opinion Writing skills

MATH- As always, check the 2nd grade webpage for resources and info on each unit!

1- Our Unit 3 test is scheduled for Friday. Your child will be bringing home items to use for study, and a list of IXL practice! Then we will beging Unit 4, which is extending base ten knowledge.

2- This week we will participate in several review games and skills. Next week, we begin our first 3rd grade unit! Woohoo! This will be focused on Base 10 knoweldge and problem solving. I will send home the unit overview, but you can always visit the unit framework that is always available on the GA DOE website.
