Next Week!

Many important things are happening next week!

Science: We will wrap up our unit on stars and constellations. The test is planned for Friday the 2nd, and a study guide will be sent home on Tuesday.

Reading: We will be focusing on "main idea" and "details". The best way to practice this at home is to read, read, READ! Ask questions when you read. Afterwards, ask what the big picture was all about.

Writing: Our unit is still "Small Moments", where students are practicing narratives. Some of you have seen the minibooks that we conferenced with. Writing conferences are when the teacher goes through the writing one on one with the student, and we make notes together on strengths and weaknesses. We will continue our conferences next week, and hopefully we'll get to EVERYONE. Please send the minibooks BACK TO SCHOOL after you look at them together. I apologize to those who have seen them already, I should've communicated that. We would like them back. :)

Grammar: Next week we will focus on contractions, and how they are formed. You can search for them in reading and at home- try asking your child what 2 words make the contraction.

Math:

2.1 friends (Your child is in 2.1 if they are in group 1 during math, they know their groups)- We will take the Unit 1 test on TUESDAY the 29th. Students will be bringing home their journals to use to study. Please be sure these do NOT get lost! Check the grade level website for resources. :)

2.2 friends (Your child is in 2.1 if they are in group 2 AND 3 during math, they know their groups)- We will continue our study of Unit 4 all next week and will test on FRIDAY the 2nd.
